Bringing together culturally diverse seniors to learn how to use digital technology.
Serving seniors living in Flemingdon, Thorncliffe Park, Crescent Town and neighbouring communities.
Bringing Seniors Online began as a one-year project in the spring of 2019 to help senior learn how to use tablets. Classes can be held at local community organizations or at the Labour Education Centre.
Seniors can learn how to:
- Connect with friends and families
- Find information on local services
- Safely use tablets
The one-year project will pilot a community-based program for seniors to learn how to use tablets.
Using a senior’s social inclusion model, classes will provide a student/tutor ratio of three to one. The project will deliver a curriculum guide on how to use tablets in community-based learning programs for seniors: How to safely use tablets for communication (social media), accessing services for themselves and their families. This learner centred curriculum will be designed and developed in collaboration with all seniors involved in the project to ensure the needs of target population are addressed.
