About Us
Helping our communities access decent work
Founded in 1988 as the Metro Labour Education Centre (MLEC), the Labour Education Centre is committed to helping workers, potential workers and all members of our community access decent work and to moving communities towards social, economic and environmental justice. We strive to deliver training and education programs that transform the lives of historically disadvantaged groups by increasing their employability and their ability to participate as engaged citizens in their communities.

Over the last several years, LEC’s offerings have evolved to include a number of programs designed to not only deliver key training opportunities to participants, but also confront some of the most challenging problems of our time. For example, LEC has developed a Working Green Program to contribute to the urgent need to take global collective action to drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions, while advocating for a just transition for workers.
