Ògo Tàwa Inc. helps gifted, underrepresented, underserved, and underemployed artists of African descent apply their artistic talents to enhance their financial security and provide better lives for themselves, their communities, and their families. We do this by bringing needed attention to their creative talents so customers and the public may support diverse artworks by Black artists.

We are developing an eCommerce platform, a public arts project and a business training program. We are looking for a Senior Operations Manager to help us through this stage of growth. This would be a hybrid work opportunity that includes work from the office and work from home. This work opportunity also includes an attractive benefits package.

The Senior Operations Manager supports the Executive Director in managing all facets of Ogo Tawa’s operations including administrative policies, HR, IT, and Finance. The successful applicant will have a track record of managing multiple stakeholders across an organization to drive efficiencies, program delivery excellence, and improvements. This is a key-role supporting the Executive Director and the Board of Directors and will require a detail-oriented and tactical individual capable of supporting organization-wide planning, development, and communication activities, as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities (Includes but not limited to):

  • Develops administrative systems, processes, and policies to enhance operations and improve management reporting, operation processes, organizational planning, and program information flow
  • Positively communicates business processes, vision and strategy to all employees and is seen and acts as a leader locally
  • Identifies administrative priorities including operations planning, budgeting, forecasting, human resources, and program policies and procedures to ensure optimal operations.
  • Manages operations of multiple projects with competing deadlines effectively and ensures deliverables are met.
  • Improves customer experience through process and people development; show measurable results
  • Ensures customer/client satisfaction levels are achieved for new and current accounts, consistent with contracted service levels, timelines, and budgets
  • Recruit, onboard, train and supervise staff
  • Ensure all operations are carried on in an appropriate, cost-effective way
  • Improve operational management systems, processes and best practices
  • Help the organization’s processes remain legally compliant
  • Formulate strategic and operational objectives as well as implements them
  • Examine financial data and use them to improve profitability
  • Purchase materials, plan inventory and oversee organizational efficiency
  • Perform quality controls and monitor organizational KPIs
  • Effectively leads and communicates with staff, contractors and artists to deliver program deliverables effectively and on time.
  • Successfully communicates with stakeholders and acts as company representative in diverse professional settings.
  • Successful candidate expected to establish some operational standards and guidelines
  • Supports the Executive Director in procuring and managing third-party service providers and suppliers
  • Supports the Executive Director in preparing relevant materials for the Board

Required Skills, Experience and Knowledge:

  • Post secondary degree preferred in Business, Operations Management or related field. Equivalent in related work experience also welcome.
  • 2-4 years experience managing people and working in operations manager role. Previous non-profit/ startup experience is an asset.
  • You self-identify as Black or Black bilingual (French-English)*
  • Fluency in speaking French Language is an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • An innovative self-starter with superb problem solving skills who thrives when working with minimal supervision
  • A people person that can connect with a range of stakeholders and players.
  • Previous experience working in a growing small business environment is an asset
  • Proven ability to create process and documentation necessary for programming, employees and consultants
  • Task oriented and highly considers no job too big or too small.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and online technology
  • Able to meet multiple deadlines and flexibility with shifting priorities
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure with attention to detail and deadlines with minimal supervision
