TradeLinx and Pre-Construction Training

This twelve-week sector-focused pre-apprenticeship training program is for Ontario Works (OW) recipients between the ages of 18-29 who are interested in a career in the skilled trades/construction industry. The program ensures that students learn not only the basics but also specific skills that employers are actively looking for, along with Health and Safety certifications and other credentials. It's designed to keep you ahead of the curve in a competitive job market, making you a top candidate for employers upon graduation.

Women in Construction

A groundbreaking initiative by LEC, the WIC program empowers women to carve out their niche in the skilled trades construction industry. It's an excellent opportunity for women to break barriers and establish themselves in a traditionally male-dominated field. As part of the program, participants will also receive 10 Health & Safety certifications, including Globally Harmonized WHIMIS, Working at Heights, and Introduction to Hand Tools. The program will provide 8 weeks of full-time training, 8 weeks of full-time job placement, and one week of post-program skill building and future planning. 

Golden Mile Trades Training Program

The Golden Mile Trades Training program offers comprehensive training, equipping you with the skills needed to thrive in the construction industry. This 6-week in-class training course is followed by 8 weeks of paid placement It's a great starting point for those new to the sector or looking to shift careers.

Green Building Operators Program

As Canada struggles to reduce GHG emissions in its built environment, it needs trained, motivated building operators to ensure that new zero carbon and energy-retrofitted industrial, commercial, institutional and multi-unit residential buildings are operated to specification. The Green Building Operators program at LEC trains participants for rewarding placements in building operations. Graduates include people who are at the beginning of their career path and newcomers with previous work histories in the building operations industry. Many of the participants are women, Indigenous people, people of colour, and newcomers.

Employment Services at LEC provide high-quality services to individuals, employers, and the community. Job seekers can check frequently for new job postings from various employers, while employers can submit available positions that are open for applications. Basic Skills Classes

Using a social justice and workers' rights approach, LEC's Basic Skills Classes help adults improve reading, writing, spelling, basic math and digital technology skills.
