Project Development

LEC is a unique resource for the labour movement -- not just in Toronto, but all across Canada. Since the 1980's, our knowledge and experience with setting up education and adjustment programs has helped unions, sector councils, and other organizations. Over the years, this role of "capacity building" has become more and more formal as LEC expands beyond its traditional programs and services for workers, to programs and services for unions as organizations. Our project development assistance is broad and comprehensive, helping unions to bring "visions" to "realities:

  • Working with affiliated unions to set goals and objectives for strong, union building education, training and adjustment programs
  • Conducting an analysis of the education, training and adjustment needs of the membership
  • Identifying and creating partnerships between unions, educators, and not for profit trainers to implement education, training and adjustment projects.
  • Explaining government funding programs and helping to write proposals and negotiate with officials
  • Helping with all dimensions of setting up projects, including finance and administration, human resources, and facilities
  • Providing simple, straightforward solutions to information technology needs that are not dependent on expensive outside "experts"
